Mobile App 2.8: Greater flexibility and stronger processes in the field
Just in time for the end of the year, we are releasing Mobile App Release 2.8.
With this update, we are specifically expanding the mobile app with functions that simplify the daily work of technicians while further improving data quality and process reliability in conjunction with FSM.
Below is a concise overview of the most important new features.
Rich text support: Structured texts instead of free text
With version 2.8, the mobile app supports the capture and display of long texts with simple formatting in rich text format. This allows content to be presented more clearly and structured more clearly.
Why this is a real added value:
Service reports, customer comments, and additional fields become much easier to read. Important information is no longer lost in long blocks of text, queries are reduced, and the quality of documentation increases sustainably.
Create assignments directly in the app: Ready to act in an emergency
Technicians can now create assignments directly from the mobile app.
A key use case here is the spontaneous creation of assignments during on-call duty, for example in the event of unplanned malfunctions or emergencies.
Assignments can also be created without a permanent online connection. The only requirement is that the customer’s address is available on the end device or can be downloaded online once if necessary.
Why this is important:
Emergency jobs can be recorded and documented immediately and accurately. Field service staff remain able to act without having to rely on subsequent recording by office staff, and the job is immediately available in FSM for further processing.
Editing contact master data: Up-to-date information with approval process
With the Mobile App 2.8, technicians can edit contact master data directly on site or add new contact persons to a project, for example to correct incorrect phone numbers or outdated contact details.
This function is deactivated by default and can be activated if necessary via the general settings in the FSM. Changes made by the technician are not automatically transferred to the central master data, but go through an approval process in the FSM.
The office staff can see all proposed changes, adjust them before they are transferred, or reject them with an optional explanation.
Added value for the organization:
Master data remains up to date without relinquishing control. The field staff provides valuable information from the field, while the office staff retains data sovereignty.
Further adjustments and detail improvements
In addition to the key new features, release 2.8 includes numerous improvements that further optimize the daily use of the mobile app:
These adjustments reduce manual rework, improve offline capability, and increase stability in daily use.
Conclusion: Mobile App 2.8 as the logical next step
With the release of version 2.8, the mobile app has been further expanded in terms of functionality and integrated more closely into existing FSM processes. Technicians now have more options directly on site, while data quality and approval processes remain clearly regulated.
The result is more consistent processes, better documentation, and a mobile app that comes even closer to meeting the real requirements of everyday service.
