From Paper Chaos to Digital Processes: How Herding Filtertechnik Is Working with Innosoft to Make Its Service More Transparent, Faster, and Smarter
When people in Amberg talk about dust, they don’t see it as a problem—they see it as a passion. For nearly 50 years, Herding Filtertechnik has been dedicated to clean air and increased productivity through filtration — with filters used in virtually every industry, from metal and battery manufacturing to food production and pharmaceuticals. “Our grandfather founded the company in 1977 in his basement — much like Steve Jobs did in his garage,” says Tim Herding, Head of Technical Services at Herding Filtertechnik. Today, it has grown into an internationally active group with over 450 employees and more than 100 million euros in revenue.
But even in such an innovative family-owned company, one area remained analog — or at best, only rudimentarily digital — for a long time: technical service. Sheets of paper, Excel spreadsheets, Word reports, and basic Outlook appointments defined the service teams’ daily routine — until Herding Filtertechnik took the plunge into digitalization with Innosoft’s Field Service Management solution.
